T-Mobile myTouch 3G ‘1.2′ in the wild, Fender not the only one that can play this game

If you thought you’d have to submit to the reality of owning a faux woodgrain-themed myTouch to get in on that all-important 3.5mm headphone jack, think again — the myTouch 3G “1.2″ that’s been making the rounds on the rumor circuit recently has just been snapped, it seems, and it’s exactly what you’d expect: a Fender Limited Edition minus the Fender branding and with a return to the solid colored-shells of old.

T-Mobile’s Fender edition myTouch 3G now available for $180

We’d already heard that T-Mobile’s new Fender edition myTouch 3G would be rolling out on January 20th, but we hadn’t had much indication about what sort of premium (if any) it would demand over the standard myTouch. Well, as you can see above, you will have to pay an extra $30 on top of the $150 the regular myTouch 3G currently demands (on-contract, naturally), but that will get you a bundled 16GB memory card, not to mention a genuine 3.5mm headphone jack, a few pre-loaded songs from Eric Clapton and others and, of course, that classy woodgrain finish.

Palm suddenly means business with games, heading to GDC this year

That was a quick turnaround, wasn’t it? Palm wasted no time in retailing 3D games that are as visually engaging as the best the iPhone has to offer just as soon as it made the big announcement back at CES, and now it’s taking things to the next level by heading out to GDC in San Francisco this March. The Game Developers Conference is — as gaming goes, anyway — what you’d call a Big Deal, so the fact that Palm is leading a session there to educate interested parties in its Plug-in Development Kit is a promising sign that these guys are taking the concept of webOS as an entertainment platform very, very seriously

HTC Bravo gettin’ overexposed in the wild?

As breathtakingly bad as the picture is, what we’re looking at here could very well be the first shot of HTC’s upcoming Bravo in the wild — the industrial design lines up nicely with what we’ve seen in the company’s leaked roadmap , anyway, and that funky little optical pad in the center perfectly matches the component that you can clearly see on the Legend render.

Alright, look, RIM: it’s no longer alright to be selling GSM smartphones in the year 2010 without HSPA. Seriously, it’s not cool — but a new filing in the FCC today from the folks in Waterloo shows the back of a phone that looks a whole lot like a new Curve to us.

WSJ: Apple and HarperCollins negotiating e-book deal for tablet

Here’s the skinny from The Wall Street Journal : major publishing company HarperCollins is in talks with Apple about bringing e-books to the oft-rumored, still-unconfirmed tablet that’s expected to be the focus of its January 27th event . The article also states that other publishing companies have been in talks with Cupertino HQ. That jibes with what we’ve heard through the grapevine, specifically with Time Inc
